The Omniscient Social Media Guru

Specialists, Experts, Gurus, Consultants, Strategists, Mavericks, Mavens… the list goes on…

We have been bludgeoned with these job descriptions both online and on the streets. I’m one of the people with this position printed on my business card.

The internet has been a hotbed of catchphrases, from Web 2.0 to Really Simple Syndication(RSS) to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Well, I must admit that my position is also a new catchphrase.

I attended an Internet Summit recently and being a communications practitioner, I figured that this summit could possibly help me understand the concerns of businesses who want to jump on the social media bandwagon. Many business owners in Singapore know that they must get online, failing which will affect their bottom-line in the future. I also wanted to find out how did businesses manage to leverage on the online platform as a springboard for their businesses.

It was interesting. Many are still trying to figure out what to do, how to do it and why to do it. Its an evolving place and environment. All shifting, changing and morphing.

Keep a look out and keep networked.
