News: A Zoom Flaw Gives Hackers Easy Access to Your Webcam

Zoom video conferencing application is used by many for its ease of use. But it’s simplicity has also led it to a slew of vulnerabilities, one of which allows hackers to access your webcam just by tricking you into clicking a link. The company pushed a patch on Tuesday to alter Zoom’s functionality and eliminate the bug. If you haven’t protected yourself, you should adjust these settings in the meantime: Settings/Preferences > Video > Meetings > Turn off my video when joining a meeting. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a webcam cover too.


News: 25 Million Android Phones Infected With Malware That ‘Hides In WhatsApp’

As many as 25 million Android phones have been hit with malware that replaces installed apps like WhatsApp with evil versions that serve up adverts, cybersecurity researchers warned Wednesday. Dubbed Agent Smith, the malware abuses previously-known weaknesses in the Android operating system, making updating to the latest, patched version of Google’s operating system a priority. Most victims are based in India, where as many as 15 million were infected.


News IDC: For 1 in 4 companies, half of all AI projects fail

Research from IDC has found that half of AI projects fail for one in four companies on average. IDC’s Artificial Intelligence Global Adoption Trends & Strategies report, summarizes the results of a May 2019 survey of 2,473 organizations that use AI solutions in their operations. It chiefly focused on respondents’ AI strategy, culture, and implementation challenges, as well as their AI data readiness initiatives and the production deployment trends expected to experience growth in the next two years.
