CEO 101 (Today, 19th Oct 2009)
It’s important to understand the reasons for the exit and respond accordingly; education, promotion and further experience should bring some form of shared celebration, ending the relationship on a positive note. It’s important to recognise, however, if a lack of growth opportunities within the company is causing good talent to leave. Where it’s a cultural mis-match, it’s shared responsibility and the exit must be swift, harmonious and blameless. Where performance and discipline are the issues, the reasons for the exit should be shared and aligned to the company’s established rules that are in place to drive success and benefit for all.
